School Organisation

Pupils at school are divided into six syndicates. These syndicates are: Mauao (year 1); Tongariro (year 2); Ngauruhoe (year 3); Taranaki (year 4); Ruapehu (year 5) and Aoraki (year 6).     We also have a seventh syndicate “Hikurangi” that incorporates The Arts.  Each syndicate is led by a senior teacher and also has a member of the Management Team attached.

The advantages of this form of organisation are:

· Teachers sharing and taking advantage of the strengths of each of the teaching team.

· Pupils experiencing the warmth and atmosphere of a smaller group operating within a larger environment.

· Team planning.

· Allowing pupils to become better known by the team of teachers directly involved with them.

Monitoring Achievement and Reporting Pupil Progress

All school activities are directed towards the ultimate goal of developing each individual as a self-directing and Life Long learner.  Our assessment practices make an important contribution in achieving this.  Each process provides opportunities for parents, teachers and pupils to work together in a partnership.
