Introduction and History

Greenpark School is situated in the suburb of Greerton, seven kilometres south from the city centre of Tauranga.

We are a co-educational, contributing school for Year 1 - 6 students.

The school was first established in 1956 and has grown steadily to a roll in excess of 750, currently accommodated in 28 classrooms.

Staffing at the school consists of 31 registered teachers, 11 teacher aides, a non teaching Principal, Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal, Office Manager, Office Assistant and part-time Accounts Officer.

The school went through a period of expansion in 2001, with the car park being extended and the administration block upgraded and extended. A new hall and library have also recently been completed and the staffroom remodelled. A new five-classroom block was completed in 1998.

Greenpark School provides a safe, attractive, caring and supportive environment for all students and staff. The school operates an "open-door" policy, which encourages community involvement whenever possible.

A Reading Recovery programme, supervised by our Individual Needs teacher, is in place for identified students as are various withdrawal programmes for our special needs pupils. In 2003 we introduced a Perceptual Motor Programme (PMP) to our junior school. This is a structured programme of physical exercises to improve our children's motor and cognitive development.

The school also runs various programmes for children with special abilities. These programmes are generally in the area of Information Technology, English, Mathematics and the Arts.

A wide range of curricular and extra curricular activities are on offer at Greenpark School: drama, music, Kapa Haka, Information Technology and sport to name a few.

A before and after school care programme is also available. Information regarding this is available through the school office.
