At Greenpark School our committed and dedicated staff will endeavour to offer its pupils a challenging and exciting range of experiences aimed at assisting each individuals academic, physical, social, emotional and cultural development. In order to achieve quality learning, our staff are actively involved in professional learning and use evaluation, planning and teaching methods that focus on the process of learning. In providing a caring environment for our pupils, all staff will strive to ensure that all children feel accepted and valued by teachers and peers alike; they will show an understanding and acceptance of gender and cultural differences and provide a warm, friendly and supportive classroom and school atmosphere conducive to learning. Greenpark School is situated in the suburb of Greerton, seven kilometres south from the city centre of Tauranga. We are a co-educational, contributing school for Year 1 - 6 students. The school was first established in 1956 and has grown steadily to a roll in excess of 750, currently accommodated in 28 classrooms, Music Suite, Dance Studio and Art Studio. Staffing at the school consists of 31 registered teachers, 10 teacher aides, a non teaching Principal, Deputy Principal and Assistant Principal, Office Manager, Office Assistant and a Burser/Principal’s P.A. The school went through a period of expansion in 2001, with the car park being extended and the administration block upgraded and extended. A new hall and library have also recently been completed and the staffroom remodelled. A new five-classroom block was completed in 1998.

High quality teaching is evident across the school.  Teachers demonstrate advanced levels of skill and commitment to providing quality and inclusive learning opportunities for students.  Relationships between staff and students are respectful, resulting in consistent on-task behaviour in classrooms.

 

Students work in environments where they are encouraged to take risks and benefit from a variety of co-operatively planned programmes, delivered by a cohesive team of dedicated professionals.

 

School management is characterised by shared leadership.  The principal and senior managers form a team of highly effective educational leaders.  Their vision, hard work and support from middle managers and staff ensure team ownership of school development and direction.

 

An enthusiastic and well-informed board of trustees provides effective school governance.  Trustees articulate a clear understanding of their governance role and demonstrate commitment in carrying out their work.  Board and management remain committed to, and fully focussed on, providing the best possible teaching and learning opportunities for staff and students.
